Built around the proven Panzer 38(t) chassis, the Grille mounted the powerful 15cm sIG 33 heavy infantry gun on a mobile armoured platform. Introduced in 1943, it provided German Panzergrenadier formations with mobile heavy infantry-gun support and saw service across multiple fronts during the later years of the war.
